Staying Connected — The Power of Saved Searches

Turning a one-time website visit into an ongoing relationship.

By this point, the platform had evolved beyond a traditional real estate website.

Buyers could search live MLS listings.

They could explore neighbourhoods through an interactive map.

They could save the homes that caught their attention.

But there was still one major gap.

The relationship ended when they left.

A buyer might spend weeks searching for the perfect home. They might save several properties, compare different neighbourhoods, and slowly refine what they were looking for.

Then tomorrow, a new listing could appear that was exactly what they wanted.

But unless they returned to the website at the right time, they would never know.

The website could remember what mattered.

It just couldn't reach back out.

From searching to staying connected

This is where saved searches became an important part of the experience.

The idea was simple:

Instead of asking buyers to repeat the same search every time they visited, they could save their preferences and let the platform continue watching for opportunities.

A buyer could define what mattered:

Location.

Price range.

Bedrooms.

Bathrooms.

Property type.

Features.

Then the system could notify them when something new matched their criteria.

The search didn't end when they closed the browser.

It continued.

The website becomes proactive

This was another major shift in the philosophy behind the platform.

Traditional real estate websites are reactive.

A buyer visits.

They search.

They leave.

The website waits.

But the best service experiences are proactive.

A concierge doesn't tell a guest:

"Come back tomorrow and ask again."

They remember the request and follow up when something relevant becomes available.

Saved Searches brought that same idea into real estate.

The website could now help create the next interaction.

Understanding intent over time

Saved searches also created a deeper understanding of the buyer journey.

A single search tells you what someone is looking for today.

A saved search tells you what someone is actively considering.

Over time, those preferences become more meaningful.

You start understanding:

Which neighbourhoods they keep returning to.

What price ranges feel realistic.

What types of homes continue to attract attention.

What features are important enough for them to wait for.

The buyer journey became something the platform could understand over time.

The continuous loop of saved searches

The beginning of a relationship

Saved Searches were another step away from the traditional real estate website.

The goal was never simply to help someone find a listing.

It was to build a system that could support someone throughout the entire process.

From discovery.

To consideration.

To decision.

The platform was beginning to create a relationship with the buyer, not just a transaction.

Looking ahead

At this point, the foundation was in place.

The platform could access real inventory.

Help buyers discover homes.

Remember their preferences.

Stay connected with future opportunities.

But there was still a question:

What if the website could understand the buyer beyond filters and saved criteria?

What if someone could simply have a conversation?

That question would lead to the next chapter:

Chapter 5: Learning to Listen — Building the AI Real Estate Concierge

"A great concierge doesn't wait for you to ask the same question twice. They remember what you need and help you before you even realize you need it."
